How to Choose a PS5 Gaming Headset
- Connection type: Wireless via a USB dongle is convenient and lag-free, while a 3.5mm wired connection works with the DualSense controller.
- 3D Audio support: Headsets that pair well with the PS5’s Tempest 3D Audio sharpen your sense of direction in games.
- Microphone quality: A flip-to-mute or detachable noise-rejecting mic keeps your voice clear and cuts background noise.
- Comfort: Memory-foam cushions and a balanced frame make long sessions painless; lighter headsets reduce fatigue.
- Battery life: For wireless models, longer battery means fewer interruptions; 60 hours or more is ideal for heavy play.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a special headset for PS5 3D Audio?
Most stereo headsets can take advantage of Tempest 3D Audio, but PlayStation-optimized models like the Pulse Elite and RIG R5 are tuned to make the effect especially convincing.
Wireless or wired for PS5?
Wireless via a USB dongle offers freedom and low latency, while a 3.5mm wired headset plugs into the DualSense and never needs charging. Choose based on your preference.
Will these headsets work with other consoles?
Many are multiplatform, working with PS4, PC, and sometimes Xbox or Switch. Wired 3.5mm models are the most universal; check wireless compatibility before buying.
How important is battery life?
For wireless headsets, longer battery means fewer charging interruptions during long sessions. Models offering 60 to 80 hours let you play for weeks between charges.
