MSI GV62 8RD-275
Here comes the MSI GV62 Review, a pretty solid laptop that is quite affordable.
This entry gaming laptop is what most casual or normal gamers will need. No need to buy an expensive laptop if you don’t play high demanding games such as Forza Horizon 4, Battlefield 5, PubG, L.A Noire The VR Case files.
Note: In Amazon questions, MSI says it can play PubG at 45-50 FPS.
On the other hand, if you play games like Fortnite (Can run Fortnite at 140FPS at low settings), Grand Theft Auto V, CS:GO, Overwatch, League of Legends, Dota 2 this laptop is more than enough. If i missed some game you play, make sure you check its system requirements.
In my case, where i play only League of Legends, this laptop would be ideal (well i can play League with an AMD 4750HD card). I don’t play other games neither i think i will.
Well i might add more RAM because i need to open many windows and 8GB is not enough (it doesn’t void the warranty if i add RAM).
But if you need the laptop for gaming only (the games described above plus more), it’s more than enough.
From my experience, people worry too much when they are about to buy. The thing you need to worry the most is that the laptop you buy won’t break in like 1 year.
That is the hardest thing to calculate. That’s why if you do research before buying, the research will be for the durability of the laptop.
That’s because reviewers don’t provide much information as to how much the laptop has worked without fault or what faults have occured and when.
And there is always the fake reviews factor.
Well, MSI is known brand for its quality laptops so is safe enough to get one of these.
Display: 15.6″ Full HD eDP IPS-Level 45% NTSC
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050TI 4G GDDR5 (There are usually questions asking if the Graphics Card can be changed. It can’t because it is embedded in the chip.
Processor: Intel Core i5-8300H 2.3-4.0GHz (This Processor has 4 cores and within each core there are 2 threads).
That means basically that tasks that can be run in parallel will be much faster in a CPU with 2 threads per core rather than 1 thread per core.
Also, the Memory types supported by this CPU are: DDR4-2666, LPDDR3-2133. So if you want to change the Memory(RAM), you can only use only these two types.
The CPU, as with the GPU, cannot be replaced.
Memory: 8GB DDR4 2666MHz 2 Sockets; Max Memory 32GB
Well Max Memory might be 32GB but 16GB is more than enough for gaming.
Maybe you go at 32GB if you are using graphic designer programs.
The memories support dual channel architecture.
Storage: 256GB NVMe SSD. You can another SSD disk if you want more space.
A Pro that this laptop has is that the red keyboard backlights can be shut down.
MSI APP Player
MSI APP Player allows you to play Android based games on your laptop.
“We don’t need an Android device to run Android apps. A freemium Windows app on MSI laptops, MSI APP Player can run popular mobile games and apps such as Clash of Clans and WhatsApp Messenger while we work in Microsoft Office in another window. It’s really an incredibly useful tool for anyone who’s developing an Android app, wants to try a new app without risking damaging our phone, or wants to enjoy our favorite mobile games on a bigger screen. Simple to use and very well designed. “https://www.msi.com/blog/msi-app-player-most-of-the-mobile-games-begin-to-migrate-to-the-laptop

This laptop has 1 year warranty. Well if you ask me , 2 years would be ideal but most gaming laptops have 1 year.
One of the cons of this gaming laptop is that it doesn’t last long on battery. 4 hours of battery life while surfing and 1 and half hours when gaming.
Another con is that the laptop cannot be charged through the USB-C port.
In this section we will compare other laptops with the same specs (mostly the same GPU).
The thing the ASUS TUF doesn’t have is the SSD Drive. It has the 1TB FireCuda SSHD, which is slower than the NVMe SSD.
The Asus laptop comes with 2 games , Gears of War 4 and Age of Empires Definitive Edition.
If you want a lightweight laptop, then the ASUS will be the winner as it weighs 5.1 pounds versus 8.6 pounds of the MSI.
Let’s see some more laptops.
Here’s the HP Gaming Laptop with the GTX 1050 TI Graphics Card.
Again as in the Asus, it has the same CPU (i5-8300H), Same Memory (8GB DDR4 2666MHz).
But it has a slow HDD Hard drive. But let’s talk about what HP has that others don’t.
HP has a USB 3.1 port where it be used for charging.
And it weighs 4.85 pounds, making it lighter than the ASUS and the MSI.
Well if you like the green backlightning on the keyboard, then you should get this one!.
Let’s continue with another laptop.
As with the previous laptops, it features the same CPU(i5-8300H), same GPU(GTX 1050 Ti), same RAM (8GB DDR4).
This one has 256 SSD Drive and its weight is 5.95 lbs.
It has also a USB Charging port and the typical 1 year warranty as the above laptops.
And it includes Fortnite Frenzy Game GeForce GTX Bundle and Trend Micro Internet Security for 6 months (3 devices).
And finally, lets see the last laptop.
There is a customize button so you pick what features you want.
It weighs 5.57 lbs. Quite low, but we got a winner already for the weights(the HP Laptop!).
As you can see, most laptops in the same category have pretty much the same specs.
When you settle down on what specs you want, then you can narrow down your choice based on other factors.
Some will take the cheapest in their category of choosing, some might take another laptop with better Hard Drive for example(SSD instead of HDD).
And some other might want a lightweight laptop or like a different color of backlight keys.
There are many types of choices one can make in order to buy a gaming laptop (or desktop). Check out my link on 3 ways to choose a gaming laptop.
Finally, if you still haven’t decided what laptop to buy , buy the MSI Laptop.
