Welcome !

The Asus Tuf FX505DT vs MSI GF63 Battle unfolds! Read more and discover two cheap budget laptops that you might have never known! Of course the winner is one!

Some Info About The Latest Gaming Laptops

If you were searching for budget gaming laptops, then you should have known that the best graphics card you could get was the GTX 1050 Ti or AMD RX 560X.

But since quite some time budget laptops came out with the GTX 1650 GPU which is better than the GTX 1050 Ti and the RX 560X.

So if you are thinking of buying a budget laptop at the moment, you should get one with a GTX 1650 and not make a silly mistake and get a GTX 1050 (Ti) or AMD RX560X.

Well if you are wondering about Geforce MX150, its perfomance is worse than the GTX 1050 Ti and the RX 560X so it’s out of the picture.

This article will present a short comparison table at first, then a more detailed overview of each laptop and then some final words.

But before you dive in, you could make a detour to learn some technical info if you wish.

The power throttling problem can be solved if you undervolt the CPU and GPU to -1.50V with Intel XTU.

Which Is Better?

Of course the Asus Tuf. It’s rare even impossible to find a 120Hz monitor at this price range. But if some brand brings out a 120 Hz Monitor laptop (that can compete with the Asus), I will certainly make a post about it!

Comparison Of GPUs

To put more information of the table, I will put some photos of benchmarks with the GTX 1650 GPU. Of course I will put only those graphics card that compete at this price range.

Not really any useful to compare the GTX 1650 with a graphics card that comes with laptops which cost over 800 dollars.

GTX 1650 (Left) Vs GTX 1050 Ti (Right)

Asus Tuf FX505DT VS MSI GF63 - GTX 1650 vs GTX 1050 Ti

So the GTX 1650 beats the GTX 1050 Ti by Average 29%. It’s quite a lot considering these graphics card cost about the same.

There is no need to compare the GTX 1650 with the GTX 1050 as the perfomance difference will be even greater than it was with the GTX 1050 Ti.

Next let’s see how it compares to the RX560X.

GTX 1650 Vs AMD RX 560X

Asus Tuf FX505DT VS MSI GF63 - GTX 1650 vs RX 260X

Let’s see some benchmarks from other sites to have a better picture.

Pink = RX260X, Red = GTX 1650

Asus Tuf FX505DT VS MSI GF63 - GTX 1650 vs RX 260X pic3
Asus Tuf FX505DT VS MSI GF63 - GTX 1650 vs RX 260X pic4

Well, most of the benchmarks are in favour of the GTX 1650 so it’s safe to say that it’s better than the RX260X.

A Little More About SSDs

Both these laptops have 256GB NVME SSD and not SATA3 SSD. The NVME and SATA3 are kinds of interface and you don’t need to confuse it with M.2. M.2 is the external size of the SSD.

NVMe is faster and newer than SATA3. Don’t know about you, but I woudn’t buy any laptop without NVMe disk, since they are quite cheap now and even budget laptops have one.

You should never get a laptop with an HDD as a primary storage space. It’s too slow and you might start singing before your laptop boots!

Buy RN!

  1. I like the comparison table and the info you gave. Although, I’m not looking for a new laptop at this time, I’ve bookmarked this page for future reference. I love gaming and I want to be able to buy a good laptop within my budget.

  2. You have included tons of helpful information here!
I like that you included the reviews too. I used to play a lot of games on my computer and I always wondered if my playing experience could have been boosted with a better gaming computer.
Thanks for all the cool information!

    1. Hi Jesse. It depends on what games you were playing. If you were playing browser games, probably a better gaming laptop wouldn’t make for a better experience. But for big titles (AAA games as they are called), you would need the laptop to be good enough.
When I say good enough I mean not to have a shared memory graphics card. These cards are slow and not recommended for gaming new desktop titles. The Asus Tuf in this comparison is still the best deal for the $600-700 price range.
If you want the best deal at $500-600 range, you can buy the Acer Nitro 5 (Model: AN515-43-R0YM) that is on $70 discount at the moment.
Hope you found my answer helpful. Be healthy and have a nice day.
